Role and Responsibilities:

A Senior Tester will be primarily responsible for owning and driving the processes and execution of testing the Cobalt platforms with a strong emphasis on automation. In addition, this role will be responsible to support the Head of Engineering with outlining and documenting product scope, enhancements, test scenarios and ensuring product delivery.

The key functions of the role are: 

  • Testing all aspects of the Cobalt system from the GUI to various APIs (in and out)
  • Build test plans, automating where possible
  • Aid in the documentation and analysis of product enhancements
  • Working closely with product and development team
  • Assisting with business requirements gathering and writing functional specs

The main areas of responsibility are:

  • Functional testing
  • Enhancing automation framework
  • Non-Functional (including stress and performance) testing
  • Preparation/review of test plans
  • Preparation/review of test cases
  • Execution of manual and automated tests
  • Preparation of test reports
  • Web based GUI Testing
  • End to end API testing (FIX and JSON)
  • Documenting and analysing product enhancements
  • Supporting the needs of the Head of Engineering


  • Computer Science degree preferred
  • At least 4 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Any other relevant professional qualifications would be advantageous

Essential Skills:

  • Able to write and build out automated test cases
  • Proficiency in at least 1 programming language (e.g. Python/Perl/etc)
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow and give direction
  • Self-starter and motivated to succeed
  • Aptitude for learning new software and IT applications
  • Proven ability to be a team player, while retaining ability to work independently with little or no supervision
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Client facing skills
  • Ability to apply a logical and analytical approach to work
  • Ability to manage time, prioritise tasks and work under tight deadlines
  • Excellent multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to think creatively

Desired Skills:

  • Strong knowledge and understanding of the FIX protocol
  • Knowledge of FX post trade processing and message flows
  • Knowledge of JSON and Web Sockets
  • Experience of VeriFIX
